Tuesday January 19
Bonsai Lake (20 pegs)

Some consistent weights today and a rare win for peg 2, well done to J Belton pole fishing to the island with pellet and maggot to just hold off the challenge of Nick ’40s’ Speed!

Wednesday January 20
Benny’s Lake (10 pegs)
1. P Riley 50-12-0, peg 7
2. G Norris 41-4-0, peg 9
3. P Appleyard 33-8-0, peg 5

The first of the winter Wednesday opens on Benny’s and a small field found the lake frozen solid. The icebreakers were brought into play and there were plenty of bites to be had on the pole. Pete Riley took the win using pellet baits, including a  large bonus mirror carp (below) to seal the match. Apparently this is Pete looking happy!

Thursday January 22

1. N Speed 38-2-0, peg 66

3. A Dockerty 21-14-0, peg 49

An extremely tough frost saw the lake frozen solid and saw a very tough day by Bonsai standards. Nick Speed top scored on peg 66, using the bomb and corn and pole and pellet. The ice has now gone and with warmer temperatures for the weekend sport should improve considerably.
